Large Meccano Constructor Bi-Plane, gear driven prop, metal pilot with goggles

$ 171.6

Availability: 100 in stock
  • Condition: As the pictures show, this piece has overall paint and playwear. The rubber tires have large flat spots and won't roll. I don't know if there are any missing parts. There is some light surface spotting on the top of the body in front of the pilot (see second to last photo). Please note that plane will be shipped with the wings taken off, otherwise would take a massive box. Please consult the pictures as they are an important part of the condition description.

    Description

    This auction is for a vintage metal Meccano airplane. This is a built up model from a constructor kit. 18.25 inches. Length of the body of the plane is about13.75 inches, not including the propeller. There is a metal pilot who is attached to a brace in the cockpit. The wheels turn, and they have a drive wheel that would have a band go around it that would in turn go around a drive wheel that comes off of the propeller. When pushed the wheels would then make the propeller spin. Won't happen on this one because the white rubber tires have flat spots and are rock hard so they won't turn. I've removed the wings so that I could fit this into the shipping box. The nuts and bolts are in a little plastic bag. The wheels were also attached by the bolts I removed, so they're separate too. In the last picture I show this piece with an Elastolin soldier with spy pigeon and K-9. He is about 3 inches to the top of his head, he is shown for size reference only and is not included in this auction. Please see my other auctions and my eBay store for vintage metal animals made in Germany and by other makers, figural desk items by Heyde and others, toy soldiers, tin windups, steam toys, vintage and out of print books on toys, and other cool items that have caught my eye.
    Taxes
    : eBay automatically adds sales tax to your cost for items going to states that require it. eBay collects and remits these taxes, I never touch those funds.
    Payment
    : I accept all the payment methods that eBay offers. Payment is due within four days from the end of the auction.  If your payment is not received within this time period the eBay automated sales tool takes over and starts hounding you.
    Shipping
    :  My auctions end on Saturday. If you pay by 5:00 E.S.T. on Sunday I'll have them in the mail on Monday. Payments made later in the week or purchases made from my store are shipped as soon as I can get to the Post Office, but that will likely take up to 5 business days.  I combine shipping on all purchases made and paid for at the same time (unless you're combining a book and toys as books use inexpensive media mail in the U.S. while toys can't).  I use First Class (up to 16 oz) and Priority mail. Books ship media mail. I only charge actual postage - no added fees. I use lots of bubble wrap, peanuts, and good boxes. In a group of multiple pieces each item is wrapped individually. Original boxes or other original paper item go into a plastic bag in case you get delivery on a rainy day.
    International Shipping:
    I gladly ship international. Please note that there can be lengthy delays at Customs. Per eBay rules, import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges -- these charges are the buyer's responsibility.
    Return Policy
    : Returns are accepted. I use a loupe to examine the toys while I'm listing them and I try and mention the significant condition issues I see. I value my eBay reputation and I'm not knowingly going to put out false or misleading info on a toy. I leave feedback so please do the same. If there is any problem with the item contact me first before leaving feedback, and we’ll work it out.
