Dog Pointer Points a Snipe in the Field, Large 1870s Antique Engraving Print

$ 31.65

Availability: 100 in stock

Description

You are bidding on a large, very rare original antique engraving from an 1870s French illustrated journal.
It depicts a beautiful English Pointer dog who has just pointed a snipe bird in the field, presumably on a hunt.
The caption reads: En arret sur les becassines
which roughly translates to:  A point on snipes
It is very large (folio size), measuring approximately 10.5 x 14.5 inches (26.5 x 36.5 cm). The picture fills most of it, with a French caption below and text surrounding it.
The page is in excellent condition for its age. There is a soft bend to the middle, where the whole journal was flightly folded years ago. This should flatten with time, or under a frame.
There is text/photos on the back of the print.
See scan for an accurate view of the condition.
This is GENUINE antique/vintage item. It is not a modern reproduction.
