Core Rebuilder / Parts Bike
Very unusual-----Mid-year model. I believe this was offered by South Bay CZ as an interim model available between CZ's factory '74 models and the Jiroslav 'Falta Replicas' that came out in early 1975. Much like Maico's '74.5 GP and Husqvarna's mid-year 250 'Mag' bikes, these CZ's were produced to bridge the gap. This was the time of the 'suspension revolution', and it was full on war between the Maico, CZ & Husky factories to stay out ahead of the competition. Mid year models (every 6 months) between 1974 & 1976 were the norm. CZ called theirs the GP (Gran Prix) model.
Back in the 70's if you lived in So-Cal, it was either Mid-Valley CZ (located in the San Fernando Valley just north of L.A.) or South Bay CZ (in L.A.) that were the shizzle. If you had the means and could afford a South Bay or Mid-Valley modified bike, you were guaranteed a steed w/high quality components and lots of 'go fast' bits. You were then the proud owner of a MX bike that was far above a standard run of the mill CZ. These are highly collectible. Engine mods with porting, gear ratio changes, carburetor upgrades, custom built coned pipes, suspension & frame upgrades, lighter weight fuel tanks, etc. were available. All you needed was a very fat wallet.
This bike sports some unusual features: Factory CZ Falta air shocks, Falta long travel forks w/ new Goki air fork cap inserts, very small aluminum coffin tank in great shape, vintage Preston Petty CZ replica fenders in great shape, 981-2-xxxx motor (RUNS WELL), CZ bars w/welded perches, trick plastic replica airbox (has new Uni filter), vintage Metzler rear tire (looks new), Barum front, South Bay down pipe w/welded silencer, folding tip shift lever, Mikuni carb conversion, rear spring loaded chain tensioner, OURY grips, plastic quick throttle, newer cables, etc. This bike came out of the southern Calif. area and still sports it's original CA-OHV Green sticker. Bike has NO TITLE.
I just had forks & shocks professionally rebuilt with new seals, oil, nitrogen. Engine was leaking oil so it was completely dismantled and resealed---no leaks now. Engine ran well and was up to specs so no engine work was needed. New trans fluid. Mikuni carb was rebuilt. New Uni foam filter. New GP seat & cover w/embroidered CZ logo. Very narrow matching aluminum tank painted blue. Original pegs. '74-'75 factory swingarm
Look at photos -- this is a very trick, super rare CZ racer. Will need various bits to complete but it's 99.9% there.
